I leveraged the node-based workflow, SideFX Houdini enables artists to create a realistic 3D simulation of waves breaking on a sandy beach with large rocks strewn across the surface.
I utilised FLIP simulations, DOP Networks and a Point-VOP to generate the initial wave emmission and direction, along with a White water simulation to create an effective and realistic simulation of waves lapping on a sandy beach.
I particularly like the way the rocks funnel the wave energy through the centre of the simulation, with vortices behind the rocks causing extremely natural looking collections of white water foam and bubbles.
