Motion graphics are a form of digital animation that combines graphic design elements with animation techniques to create engaging visual content. Unlike traditional animation, which focuses on storytelling through character animation, motion graphics emphasize text and graphic elements, making them ideal for conveying information in a dynamic way.
Motion graphics are widely used across various media and industries, including:
Creating motion graphics involves several key steps:
Through these processes, motion graphics can transform static designs into captivating visual stories that inform, entertain, and inspire audiences.
I have a good general grounding in the tools, techniques and industry benchmark methodologies to achieve a wide array of motion graphics effects. This includes conceptual design, modelling, procedural modelling and animation, lighting and rendering. The primary skills I apply to motion graphics creation are Houdini (modelling, effects, procedural control, animation), Maya (modelling, animation), Photoshop and Nuke (compositing, grading, rotoscoping, keying, cleanup, finishing). My specialisms are in pyro, particle and flip simulations to acheive realistic water, destruction and magical effects.
